The Tottenham attacker has been in outstanding form, and while the former Manchester United defender says he may suit Real Madrid more, he would welcome the Welshman in Catalonia
Tottenham star Gareth Bale is good enough to play for Barcelona, according to the club’s centre-back Gerard Pique.
The Welshman has been in outstanding form this season, leading to speculation about whether Barca or rivals Real Madrid could sign him in the summer, while Goal.com exclusively revealed that Bale would be prepared to reject a move this summer if Spurs clinched a place in the Champions League.
And while Pique admits Bale would perhaps be more suited to los Blancos, he says that the 23-year-old is definitely good enough to play for La Liga’s leaders.
“I think he’s an unbelievable player, he’s a great player,” Pique told BBC’s ‘Football Focus’. “He has all of the conditions to play in the team that he wants to.
“Now he’s in Tottenham and he’s doing a great job and we will see. We want to have all the best players in our team.
“I always think that the best players can fit in any team, no matter the style of the team. It’s true I think that the style of play of Real Madrid maybe – because he’s really quick, the power he’s got – maybe he can fit a little bit more [there].
“But he can play here definitely too. I cannot see any problem that he cannot play [for Barcelona].”
Pique also revealed how team-mate Cesc Fabregas enjoys talking about his former side Arsenal, but says the rest of the Barcelona team do not expect the Gunners to pick up any silverware this year.
He added: “Fabregas loves to talk about Arsenal. We are saying they have no chance to win a [trophy] this season.”
