Turkish giants Galatasaray have hit out at rumours that have linked them with a number of high profile attackers in recent weeks, including Arsenal winger Andrey Arshavin and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Istanbul club have also been linked with players outside of the Premier League, with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain and Alexandre Pato of AC Milan both tipped with a move to Turkey, but the club have denied that such moves are likely.
“Reports regarding the club’s interest in a number of players, such as Andrey Arshavin, Dimitar Berbatov, Alexandre Pato and Gonzalo Higuain, does not reflect the truth,” said a statement on the club’s official website.
Quotes from Arshavin’s agent claimed he would be open to a move to Turkey with his situation at Arsenal looking precarious, while Sir Alex Ferguson has recently stated that he has no plans of allowing Berbatov to leave the club in this transfer window.
Meanwhile Higuain has been tipped with a move away from the Bernabeu having lost his place to France international Karim Benzema, and reports have suggested that Pato is set to leave San Siro following injury troubles during his time at the club.
