Goal.com readers are split over whether Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho should dip into the transfer market following Iker Casillas’ hand injury.
The club captain broke a bone in his thumb during Copa del Rey draw with Valencia and has been ruled out for around an estimated six weeks, meaning he could miss both of the clashes against Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The winning option in our poll – with 38 per cent of readers rooting for it – was for the former Inter and Chelsea coach to sign-up a short-term goalkeeper to cover for the Spain No.1.
However, 27% were of the opinion that Madrid should go into the transfer market with the motive of buying a brand new shot-stopper to challenge Casillas to the first team.
Another option for Mourinho is to back Antonio Adan between the sticks – something he has already done this season at Casillas’ expense on a couple of occasions while the skipper was still fit.
A sizeable chunk of readers – 35 per cent, to be precise – believe Adan is good enough to weather the storm during Casillas’ absence.
