Historic Juventus-Ferencvaros

Juventus play against Ferencvaros without an Italian defender or goalkeeper for the first time in the club’s history.

The Old Lady face the Hungarians at the Allianz Stadium this evening and a win would allow the Bianconeri to qualify for the last-16 stage with two games in hand, provided Dynamo Kiev beat Barcelona.

The Allianz Stadium meeting will somehow remain in history as Juventus play without an Italian defender or goalkeeper for the first time since the club was founded 123 years ago.

With Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini out with injuries, Juventus backline is formed by Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Matthijs de Ligt and Alex Sandro while former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczęsny starts in goal.

The Poland international was rested against Cagliari this past weekend in favour of Gigi Buffon who has been ruled out of this evening’s clash with an injury.

In the 4371 games Juventus played during their history, they always had at least one Italian defender or an Italian goalkeeper in their starting XI.
