HT: Morata opens for Juve in Budapest

Alvaro Morata was on target yet again to give Juventus the half-time lead away to Ferencvaros, but could’ve had a second too.

The Bianconeri had Cristiano Ronaldo and Giorgio Chiellini back after the home defeat to Barcelona, though Merih Demiral was suspended, Alex Sandro and Matthijs de Ligt still injured. The Hungarians had lost their opener 5-1 to Barca and held Dynamo Kiev 2-2.

It took just seven minutes for Juve to break the deadlock in rainy Budapest, as Juan Cuadrado burst down the right on to a Leonardo Bonucci pass and rolled it across the six-yard box, beyond Ronaldo, but ready for Alvaro Morata to tap in.

Federico Chiesa combined with Ronaldo for a shot charged down, while Zubkov wasted from a very promising position when found relatively unmarked.

It should’ve been 2-0, but Morata tried to send Ronaldo through rather than go for goal himself, allowing Miha Blazic to make a sensational last-ditch tackle.

Cuadrado had two incidents with a shoulder-to-shoulder, one when he was attacking, one defending against Somalia, and the referee judged both the same way.
