Juve ‘continuity’ key for Morata

Atletico Madrid loanee Alvaro Morata has said ‘the continuity’ at Juventus can help him become the main man at Spain. ‘I can be that missing striker’.

Morata has enjoyed a fine start to his second stint at the Allianz Stadium, with six goals in eight competitive games for the Bianconeri.

“I’m fine. I’m in a good moment and I’m confident,” Morata said, according to SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

“Scoring is a matter of finding the net. The time will come for the national team too. It will be the second time in my career that I have played more than 60 minutes for six games in a row.

“Continuity is important for all players and at Juve I am having the continuity I have longed for. I’m the same person and the same player as always, perhaps more mature, which you get over the years.

“The only change is to be or not to be on the pitch. In the other years, I didn’t have this continuity, even during my first time at Juve. But I was 19 years old too.

“The more you play, the calmer you are and the more you can think about what to do when you have the ball.

“If Spain is missing a striker, I think I can be that player.”

Morata contributed an assist to Sergio Canales against Holland this week and spoke ahead of the first of two UEFA Nations League games against Switzerland tomorrow.
