The striker has been linked with Arsenal in the past week but his representative doubts the striker will depart the San Paolo this summer
Gonzalo Higuain is unlikely to leave Napoli despite interest from “lots of clubs”, according to his father and agent.
The striker has been linked with an end-of-season departure from the Stadio San Paolo, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid rumoured to be considering a summer bid for the Argentina international.
However, Jorge Higuain has suggested this son has no desire to quit the Serie A club, whom he joined from Real Madrid for €40 million two years ago.
“There are a lot of teams interested in Gonzalo,” he told El Crack Deportivo. “However, he has a three-year contract to run with Napoli.
“I do not think he will go anywhere.”
Higuain has scored 16 goals in 35 Serie A appearances this season – joint-fourth with two matchdays to go – while netting 27 times in all competitions for the Partenopei.
But his goals look like they might not have been able to fire Napoli to a spot in next season’s Champions League, as they sit three points adrift of third-placed Lazio.
