Sports betting players who follow Real Madrid have watched Gonzalo Higuain blossom into one of the world’s best strikers and he was starting to find his form for the Argentinean national team as well. However, Higuain suffered a terrible back injury in December, and he has a long road ahead of him in his recovery.
Higuain was going into his fifth season at Real Madrid, and he exploded in his third season, scoring 24 goals in 44 appearances. The following season, Higuain upped his total to 29 goals in 40 matches for Higuain, forming an incredible duo with the newly-signed Cristiano Ronaldo. He took that form into South Africa for Argentina at the World Cup, scoring a hat track against South Korea in the group stages, and Higuain added another marker against Mexico in the quarterfinals. This year started off promisingly for the French-born Higuain (his father Jorge was Argentinean), as he scored seven goals in 12 games for Madrid, and Higuain also got on the scoresheet in a 4-1 thrashing of Spain in July.
However, it all went south in December for Higuain when he was diagnosed with a herniated disc, and after surgery on January 5th, Higuain will be off the pitch for four months, at least, along with two more months of rehab/recovery and two more months of training. That is a long road for the talented striker, who has a knack of scoring late goals, and while Madrid has managed to get by without him, Higuain is still second on the team in goals despite playing half the games, which is a testament to his importance.
