The Galatasaray trainer is looking forward to next week’s Champions League encounter, and admits his side could be in for a tough task
Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim is full of respect for Real Madrid ahead of the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Terim believes the reigning Spanish champions are among the best teams in the world, and realises Gala face a tough task to reach the semi-finals at the expense of Madrid.
“We all know how strong Real Madrid are, especially in home games. They are one of the best teams in the world,” Terim told AS.
“However, that does not mean we will change out style of play. Every game starts 0-0 and this is a result that would be in our favour.
“They will be superior to us in both games and we realise that. Losing against Madrid is not a disgrace, but the important thing is that we can be satisfied with our performance.
“We prefer the tough matches and are relishing the challenge. My main goal is to get a respectable result.”
Galatasaray last met Real Madrid in August 2011, when they were beaten 2-1 in a friendly.
