The former Tottenham midfielder is in high spirits following his display against the English giants, and has warned that Galatasaray will not be pushovers in the Champions League
Luka Modric has stated that Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League win over Manchester United earlier this month has served as a huge confidence boost for him which he hopes to take into the rest of the season.
The Croatia international played a key role in his side’s Champions League progress as he netted in the victory at Old Trafford, and he has been brimming with confidence ever since.
“The match against Manchester helped me loads and gave me more confidence than I had in the beginning,” Modric told the official Madrid website.
“I had confidence before but not in the way that I wanted. This is football and in a match everything can change and turn out well.”
The 27-year-old also took the time to discuss the upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie against Galatasaray, and insisted that Madrid must remain focused.
“We’re in top form but we have to focus on the two matches and give it our all, like we did against Barcelona and Manchester,” he added.
“If we concentrate fully on the two matches we can make it to the semi-finals. It’s not going to be easy. It’s a great team. Especially now, with [Didier] Drogba and [Wesley] Sneijder, they’re more dangerous.”
The first leg of the quarter-final tie takes place at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 3.
