The 36-year-old has revealed his concerns over the duo after their recent struggle for goals
Fernando Morientes says he is worried about the state of mind of Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.
The two players have managed just 23 goals between them this season, but the former Blancos favourite has backed the duo to come through their dry patch.
“What worries me above all about this run is the effect it could have on them and their state of mind,” he told Cadena Cope.
“I’ve been in that situation and being singled out isn’t nice, but you always get through it in the end.”
Morientes suffered similar streaks throughout his five-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and is familiar with the pressures both Benzema and Higuain will be experiencing.
“Sometimes you go through ruts like these,” he continued. “It doesn’t matter how well you’re playing, though, you know full well at Real, you have to score goals.”
Los Blancos are currently second in La Liga, one-point ahead of third-placed Atletico Madrid.
