Granada forward Nolito admits he never envisaged the relegation candidates beating Real Madrid in Saturday’s encounter.
The 26-year-old Spaniard joined the club in the transfer window on loan from Benfica and could not have wished for a better start as his corner was put in by Cristiano Ronaldo, which ensured El Grana got their first win under new boss Lucas Alcaraz.
And the former Barcelona B attacker says the team went far beyond their expectations by getting the three points.
“Our intention is to always put in a good performance,” he told reporters.
“But we got three points and that will give us great confidence.
“Everyone can dream, but we knew it would be tough. We suffered physically, but we won.”
Granada’s victory has seen them rise to 16th in La Liga, while Real Madrid’s defeat leaves the champions in third place, fifteen points behind Barcelona.
