Paris Saint-Germain do not fear Real Madrid, insists Jallet

Christophe Jallet is confident Paris Saint-Germain have what it takes to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League – if the two were paired together during Thursday’s round of 16 draw.

The Ligue 1 outfit beat Porto to top spot in Group A, while Madrid had to settle for second spot behind Borussia Dortmund in their section, making a round of 16 tie a possibility.

“Real Madrid would be a difficult opponent, but we could beat them. If you have the ambition to win the competition, you have to beat every opponent,” Jallet told RMC.

“These are big games, regardless of the opponent. A difficult task awaits either way. Obviously, some opponents would be more difficult than others, though.”

Meanwhile, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is remaining cautious and admits hewould prefer to avoid the Santiago Bernabeu side.

“There is not one team in particular that we would like to face. Real Madrid are a very dangerous team,” the Italian told Le Figaro.

“This draw will be very important to give us an idea of how far we can go. We made a good start to the Champions League. Our group wasn’t the most difficult, but we did a good job.”

Thursday’s draw in Nyon is scheduled to start at 11:30CET.
