Chelsea Warn Assistant Manager Jody Morris Over Use of Social Media After Mocking Jose Mourinho

Chelsea’s Jody Morris has landed himself in hot water with the club over his use of social media, after he appeared to mock former manager Jose Mourinho on his Instagram story last week.

The video was in response to a comment made by the Portuguese about Chelsea’s defensive issues this season, the Blues having conceded 17 goals in their opening 12 league games. The 56-year-old said in analysis he was still ‘worried’ about how Frank Lampard’s team defend in games against the so-called big teams.

The Blues are currently in fine form, having won their last six Premier League fixtures, and Morris took it upon himself to respond to Mourinho’s comments, writing “Jose is still worried” and adding a number of laughing emojis. Chelsea’s assistant manager then created a video of himself pretending to cry with the inclusion of the song ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ by The Verve in the background.

The former Chelsea, Leeds and Millwall midfielder is now an integral part of Lampard’s backroom staff at Chelsea and is ever-present on social media platforms such as Instagram.

In response to Morris’ actions, the Daily Mail claim the club have since spoken to the 40-year-old and warned him of his behaviour on social media, indicating that his comments were inappropriate and not in keeping with the club’s values.

This is not the first time the coach’s behaviour on Instagram has raised eyebrows, as he previously trolled Lampard by editing Tammy Abraham’s hair onto the Chelsea boss’ head.

There is no indication that Morris will have to take a break from certain social media platforms, but he has been asked to show more discipline in the future.

Chelsea return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to the Etihad in a top-of-the-table clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Blues then travel to Mestalla to take on Valencia in the Champions League four days later.
