La Liga Team of the Week: Kaka and Messi make the grade

The Brazilian played himself into Jose Mourinho’s thoughts with a polished performance against Rayo Vallecano, while the Argentine was Barcelona’s match-winner at Granada

Lionel Messi led Barcelona to three more points in the 24th round of La Liga at the weekend, while Kaka impressed for a Real Madrid side stifled somewhat after the dismissal of Sergio Ramos.

Here, Goal.com looks at the best players from the latest Liga action as the Primera Division approaches its final third.

In goal, Willy Caballero is included again, this time for a stellar showing in the narrow victory over Athletic Bilbao, the Argentine frustrating the Basques with a number of superb saves.

At the back, Fede Fernandez scored and was solid for Getafe, while Ricardo Costa rescued 10-man Valencia with a vital goal and Carlos Martinez put in another polished performance for Real Sociedad.

In midfield, his team-mate Asier Illarramendi was exceptional, while Gary Medel scored twice for Sevilla and was typically combative for the Andalusians. Kaka showed signs of his quality in the win over Rayo Vallecano, while Cesc Fabregas was back on form for Barcelona as the Catalans came from behind to beat Granada.

Further forward, Lionel Messi netted both goals for the Catalans to surpass 300 goals for the club, while Diego Costa scored for Atletico Madrid against one of his former teams, Valladolid, and Adrian Colunga provided a constant threat and netted for Getafe against Celta.
