LOL: The Best Memes & Funnies From Around the World This Week

One of the best things about the modern-day internet is that pretty much everything gets made into a meme about three seconds after it actually happens. Even footballers aren’t safe.

This week, there were plenty of incidents which got well and truly 2019-ed on social media, and we were there to lap up each and every funny one.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the finest.

Super-Ron

So, we all know that Cristiano Ronaldo is not a normal human being. The Juventus man has made a career out of doing things which most people can only dream of, but he reached new heights (pun very much intended) against Sampdoria.

Ronaldo jumped higher than the crossbar to head home in his side’s 2-1 win. Over two-and-a-half metres of air – more than the average NBA player can manage.

Are we even surprised anymore?

As there is with any Ronaldo highlight, the army of ‘Messi could never’ believers was out in full force, but that works both ways…

You Can’t Win Anything With Kids

Harvey Elliott

Liverpool’s success came back to bite them in the you-know-where this week. Their senior stars jetted off to Qatar to compete in the Club World Cup, leaving behind a crop of academy stars who were tasked with facing Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Needless to say, it did not end well.

The youngest side in Liverpool history were unapologetically thumped 5-0, and Twitter showed no mercy.

The two sides are set to meet again in April, but Liverpool will actually be able to play their stars this time.

El Clási-No

It finally arrived! El Clásico! The most hyped and eventful match in Europe! Yeah!

Barcelona and Real Madrid were supposed to put on an instant hit to decide a leader at the top of La Liga, but they ended up labouring to a 0-0 draw in one of the least classic Clásicos you’re ever likely to see.

Unsurprisingly, fans were not best pleased.

If you haven’t guessed, the game wasn’t exactly great.

However, that’s not what this guy thought.

Sorry, what?

Erling Haaland’s Transfer Merry-Go-Round

Red Bull Salzburg hitman Erling Haaland is one of the hottest prospects in football these days, and he knows it.

The teenager has been having fans’ lives online, and it all started at a shirt-signing event where Haaland chose to sign six different shirts, including Manchester United, Napoli and Leeds United, before posting them all on his Instagram.

He was then said to have hopped on a flight to Manchester to meet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but his representatives chose to have some fun with the whole story.

He wasn’t the only one having a laugh, as many on Twitter chose to get involved with the joke.
