Milan Remain Interested in Juventus’ Federico Bernardeschi Despite Failed January Approach

Milan are still interested in Juventus attacker Federico Bernardeschi despite being rebuffed in their bid to bring the Italian to San Siro in the January transfer window.

Bernardeschi has failed to become a consistent starter for Juventus since joining the club in 2017 from Fiorentina, and has featured 23 times for the Old Lady so far this season – often from the bench – scoring just once.

As a result, Milan made a move for the 26-year-old in January – offering a swap deal for Lucas Paqueta – but the move failed to materialise, with both clubs unable to come to an apt agreement.

However, according to Calciomercato, this hasn’t put Milan off completely, with the Rossoneri readying themselves to make another move for the winger this summer as they aim to bolster their squad.

Milan supposedly have a fantastic relationship with Bernardeschi’s agent Beppe Bozzo as well, something that should aid them as they swoop for the Italian once again.

They currently sit seventh in Serie A, 12 points off fourth-placed Atalanta, and have seen an upturn in form since their January business – chiefly due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the club.

But the club have loftier ambitions, aiming to re-capture the form they exhibited in the 2000’s, and recruitment will be key to the club’s potential resurgence, though they.

However, while Bernardeschi is a long-term target for Milan, Juventus aren’t particularly keen on letting him go, and they still see him as an important part of the club’s future. In fact, they even rejected a recent approach from Barcelona.

But the forward – who can play on either wing or as an attacking-midfielder – may be tempted by a chance to get more game time under his belt, having played the full 90 minutes only twice in Serie A this term.
