Real Madrid general director Jose Angel Sanchez has insisted the future of head coach Jose Mourinho was not discussed during Tuesday’s meeting.
Marca reported on Thursday that captains Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos had demanded the departure of the Portuguese and had threatened to leave if Mourinho were to stay put, a claim that was vehemently denied by club president Florentino Perez during a press conference.
Even though the Spanish paper continue to stand by their story, Sanchez has once again refuted suggestions Mourinho’s future at Madrid is in doubt.
“I can assure you that at no point did we discuss the future of Mourinho,” the Madrid director told AS.
“Speculation that we did talk about it is nothing but a big lie. You cannot speculate about something this serious.”
Mourinho has an ongoing contract with Madrid, but several publications continue to claim that he will leave the club at the end of this season.
