New-look Italy against Estonia

Italy are expected to field a completely transformed starting XI in tomorrow’s Estonia friendly, including Sandro Tonali, Vincenzo Grifo and Alessandro Bastoni.

It kicks off on Wednesday at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.

This is the first of three Italy games that will be played over the break for international duty, although the friendly will have a completely different squad to the one facing Poland and Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League.

There is even a different coach, as Roberto Mancini is still self-isolating following his COVID-19 positive test, so assistant Alberico Evani will be on the touchline at least against Estonia.

According to Sky Sport Italia, there will be three Inter players in the starting XI, namely Bastoni, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Roberto Gagliardini.

It is due to be 21-year-old Bastoni’s senior Italy debut, while Soriano’s eighth and most recent cap was all the way back in November 2015.

Milan midfielder Tonali also takes to the field with Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi.

Among the notable relatively new faces are Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo, here used in a more central role rather than at right-back, Bologna midfielder Soriano, Udinese forward Kevin Lasagna and Freiburg left-sided winger Grifo.

Italy (probable): Sirigu; D’Ambrosio, Di Lorenzo, Bastoni, Emerson; Soriano, Tonali, Gagliardini; Bernardeschi, Lasagna, Grifo
