The war of words between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola rages on, as Raiola hit back at the United manager’s warning on his player’s future
Pogba has been the subject of luke-warm transfer speculation for over 18 months due to his injury problems, United’s lack of Champions League football and the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes.
However, the rumours have intensified recently thanks to his agent’s intervention, with ‘super-agent’
Juventus has always been among the most likely destinations for Pogba should he call time on his second spell at United. According to Gazzette dello Sport, the Serie A outfit are prepared to pay £125m, plus Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot to bring him back to the Allianz Stadium.
Solskjaer then attempted to dilute the transfer talk by emphasising that Pogba was contracted to Manchester United, saying
However, the United manager’s bid to play down the situation appeared to only add fuel to the fire, with Raiola taking to social media to reply in sensational fashion only minutes before the Red Devils kick off against Chelsea on Monday night.
Writing on Twitter, Raiola said: “Paul Pogba is not mine and for sure not Solskjaer’s property, Paul is Paul’s. You cannot own a human being already for a long time in the UK or anywhere else.
“I HOPE Solskjaer DO NOT WANT TO SUGGEST THAT PAUL IS HIS PRISONER. BUT BEFORE Solskjaer makes comments about things I say he should inform himself better about the content of what is being said.
“I am a free citizen who can think and express my thoughts. Until now I was maybe too nice to him. Solskjaer should just remember things that he said in the summer to Paul.
“I think Solskjaer may be frustrated for different reasons and is now mixing up some issues. I think Solskjaer has other things to worry about. AT LEAST IF I WAS HIM I WOULD.”
Raiola’s barbed outburst will only fuel speculation over Pogba’s desire to leave, with the timing of the post – immediately ahead of a Man Utd game – particularly curious.
The reference to things Solskjaer ‘said in the summer’ to Pogba also hints at the possibility a previously agreed agreement over Pogba’s exit; a topic that is likely to be the topic of conversation in the coming days.
