Ronaldo calls for unity ahead of Valencia clash

Ahead of the second of their trio of matches with Valencia, Cristiano Ronaldo has said that Real Madrid must stand united to record another victory against Ernesto Valverde’s side.

There have been rumours of a disagreement between Jose Mourinho and his star player, but Ronaldo took to Twitter last night to say he was concentrating on the Liga match with Valencia.

“Thinking about tomorrow’s game. Together we can do it. Hala Madrid!” he stated.

Despite Ronaldo’s own fine form, Real Madrid are struggling in La Liga this season and will likely surrender their title to Barcelona, who are well clear of the chasing pack despite their loss at Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Rumours of friction between the players and Mourinho have been rife all season, and Ronaldo was said to have had a confrontation with the coach in the aftermath of Madrid’s 2-0 win against Valencia in the Copa del Rey last week, although that incident has since been downplayed.

The match with Valencia is the second of three clashes between the two sides in a week, with the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final coming up on Tuesday night.
