The Turkey international has stressed that he will approach the prolific attacker like any other opponent, and hopes the Istanbul giants can cause an upset
Galatasaray defender Semih Kaya has insisted that he does not fear Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Portugal international has been in fine form in European club football’s elite competition so far this term, netting eight goals in as many appearances, but Semih has made it clear that he will approach the attacker just like any other opponent.
“To me, it does not matter whether I play against Cristiano Ronaldo or against someone else. I do not fear him,” Semih told Fanatik.
“I respect Cristiano Ronaldo, just like any other opponent. I always do my utmost and that will be the same against him.”
The defender then went on to say that Galatasaray are optimistic about their chances of eliminating Madrid in their quarter-final tie.
He added: “On paper Real Madrid are the favourites, but we do not fear any team. Schalke also thought they got a favourable draw and we all know what happened there. We want to cause another upset.”
The first leg takes place in Madrid on Wednesday, with the return scheduled for April 9.
