Raphael Varane feels Real Madrid put in a spectacular performance in the opening 45 minutes of their 5-0 La Liga win over Valencia on Sunday.
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria netted twice before the break after Gonzalo Higuain had opened the scoring for the Blancos, and Varane was over the moon with his side’s first-half display.
“The team played very well, our first half was spectacular and we are happy with the win,” Varane told reporters.
“We always try to play that way, but things don’t always go how we want. On Sunday we were very good and safe at the back.”
The Frenchman then went on to stress that Madrid have not given up on La Liga just yet, while adding that there are no internal problems.
He added: “We have to go match by match and give our all. The league isn’t over until the end and we’ll keep fighting.
“Everything is good in the dressing room, there are no problems at all.”
Madrid currently sit third in La Liga, trailing leaders Barcelona by 15 points.
